(correspondents: wang dajun) on july 5, the “key technology of carbon dioxide-natural gas conversion” undertaken by southwest institute and belonging to the project of “key technologies of coal-fired flue gas ccus” under the national 863 program was smoothly accepted by the ministry of science and technology.
the project aims at the research on co2 biotransformation applications, conversion to clean fuel, geological storage, efficient absorption and separation technology, development of key technologies of coal-fired flue gas ccus, and demonstration of some projects. the project is led by zhejiang university.
the carbon dioxide-natural gas technology project conducted by southwest institute is a key technology of natural gas preparation through the methanation of coke oven gas (compensating co2) to meet the demand of china for the carbon capture and utilization technology. southwest institute completed development of methanation catalyst, design, and construction of catalyst preparation unit, methanation process and reactor development, methanation pilot test and process software package development. it integrated coke oven gas deep purification and co2 purification from lime kiln gas to form a complete set of technologies of the preparation for synthesis of natural gas (sng) / compressed natural gas (cng) / liquefied natural gas (lng) through the methanation of coke oven gas (compensating co2). the institute put into production the demonstration project of 100000nm3/h lng preparation through the methanation of coke oven gas (compensating co2) in qian’an, hebei province, playing an exemplary role in the comprehensive utilization of coke oven gas and co2 and achieving remarkable promotion results.
