(correspondent: yang bin) recently the 39th annual meeting of the chinese polyvinyl chloride industry & the 3rd “xinlong lantian cup” paper competition has been held at zhengfei international hotel, zhengzhou, henan province. it was sponsored by ningxia xinlong lantian technology co., ltd. and co-organized by the editorial board of the polyvinyl chloride journal owned by jinxi research institute of chemical industry, the national pvc information station and the sub-committee for pvc resin products under national plastics standardization technical committee. a total of 112 papers were selected and entered the final round of competition, the most in the competition history. after evaluation, four of them won the first prize, five the second prize, 11 the third prize and 35 the recognition award.
the meeting gathered over 200 delegates from 110 pvc resin manufacturers, downstream processing companies, research institutes, colleges & universities and manufacturers of relevant auxiliary materials and equipment at home and abroad. in the audience were 50 pvc resin manufacturers and faculty members from tsinghua university, zhejiang university, sichuan university, tianjin university, shanghai university and beijing university of chemical technology, who shared their thoughts on how to propel the development of the pvc industry.
in his opening remarks, jinxi institute’s general manager and polyvinyl chloride’s editor-in-chief xu lixin summarized the latest development of the pvc industry and what it had achieved in technological innovation, energy conservation, emission and cost reduction, thanked xinlong lantian for its title sponsorship of the paper competition, and greeted all participants present. general manager yang xiuling of shandong xinlong group, on behalf of xinlong lantian, welcomed the audience.
the meeting featured 22 thematic reports covering the following topics: the preparation and processing of special-purpose pvc resin, summarization of mercury-free catalyst test run, design and experiment of producing pvc nano-gold catalyst with the calcium carbide process, analysis of factors affecting the performance of delustering pvc resin, the size and size distribution control of pvc latex particles made via emulsion and microsuspension polymerization, analysis of the use of pvc nanometer low-mercury catalyst with the calcium carbide process, the application of temperature variation technique in 105 m3 polymerizer, the status quo of downstream application of pvc and future expansion of its application, safe, green and energy-efficient upgrade of acetylene generating plants of pvc with the calcium carbide process, multi-stage deep mercury removal technique, research and application of evaporate condensers, application of electrochemical water treating technique, research and industrial application of refined vcm generation by vcm absorption and dehydration, etc.
the meeting invited pvc expert and technical advisor zhang youxin, chief engineer zhang yu from beiyuan group, deputy general manager cao zhanguo from tangshan sanyou chlor-alkali, and deputy general manager sun xiongjie from hangzhou electrochemical group to answer questions from the audience and those collected by the editorial board of polyvinyl chloride.
meanwhile, the first session of the 7th editorial board of polyvinyl chloride was convened. it was chaired by deputy editor-in-chief gao xudong and addressed by editor-in-chief xu lixin. at the meeting, over 30 editorial board members elected the 7th editorial board, and editorial board director du jiamin reported on the work done in 2016. concrete suggestions were raised and heated discussion aroused over the formulation of relevant pvc standards. the annual meeting has allowed its participants better understanding of the current status and prospects of the production and technological application in the pvc industry, pointed out the development direction and better prepared pvc manufacturers to work hard to improve product quality, develop new products and better meet the demands of downstream processing companies.
