(correspondent: wang chong) against the background of booming nuclear power industry and the “go global” strategy, the hualong-1 project will gain growing importance for developing proprietary nuclear power units in china. the rubber expansion tank, produced by shenyang institute for its tel chilled water system, passed the client’s acceptance inspection in late may.
the product is of a special structure and requires a sophisticated molding process. in particular, it uses the epdm (ethylene-propylene-diene monomer) rubber which is difficult to stick and mold. to add to the difficulty, the delivery time was imminent. excluding the time for die processing, shenyang institute had only about 15 days left for production. to ensure the completion of the task, the no.2 factory assigned senior engineer zhou xiaolei to take charge of process management and liu xianwen, head of the molding group, to oversee the trial-production. working day and night for 12 days, the team successfully completed the order of 8 products.
this is a new expansion product used to ease the pipe network pressure in the chilled water system. in a systematic performance test conducted on nuclear equipment, it met all the client’s technical requirements for rubber and airtight performance, etc., passing the acceptance inspection.
this is the first home-made expansion tank for nuclear power plants, paving the way for chinese manufacturers to enter the international nuclear power market.
