founded in 1965, liming research institute of chemical industry (lrici) has been a comprehensive research institute directly under the supervision of the former ministry of chemical industry, which is affiliated with the china haohua chemical (group) corporation. among over 800 employees, more than 500 workers are specialized as technical personnel - 1 academician of the chinese academy of engineering, 13 professor-level senior engineers and over 300 technicians with intermediary and senior level titles. located in the northern section of wangcheng avenue, luoyang, henan province, lrici covers an area of 550 mu, with a construction area of 370,000 square meters, and owns fixed assets of 700 million yuan. as the chairman unit of the china polyurethane industry association, it has became one of the top 100 scientific research institutions with import and export trading rights since 1993 and was granted the right to confer master's degrees for chemical technology and macromolecular physics and chemistry in 2000. it passed the iso9000 certification in 2001, and was awarded as a state-accredited laboratory in 2003.
for the past four decades, lrici has conducted hundreds of research projects that total up to 233 accredited scientific and technological achievements. it has won 147 rewards - 11 national science and technology progress awards, 3 national awards for technological invention and 127 awards at the provincial and ministerial levels. in recent years, lrici holds steady to its management and industrialization that follow guiding principles of “scientific research based, market demand-oriented industry-supported and benefit-centered”. to be more specific,, lrici’s hydrogen peroxide technology and the industrialization in stredford process, one of its most influential technologies, won a remarkable reputation at home and abroad. it has taken 30 years since launching its r&d program to establishing a large-scale industrialization process. in china, this technology has been utilized in more than 50 enterprises; over 30 sets of advanced production units were built via the transfer of new technology and is exported to indonesia . presently, the lrici-oriented peroxide of hydrogen unit with an annual output of 100,000 tons (as calculated upon h2o2 by 27.5 percent) was built in jili high-tech park, which happens to be the largest industrial park in mid-western china.
lrici is the first institute to engage in r&d and large-scale production of sulfur hexafluoride technology in china. it drafted sulfur hexafluoride national standards and was honored with a national science and technology reward. lrici boasts of state-of-the-art technologies in electrolysis, syntheses and refinement. there are 2 sets of sulfur hexafluoride automatic production units, each with annual output of 1,000 tons, and total productive capacity that can reach almost 3,000 tons. on the strength of its industrial production of sulfur hexafluoride, lrici developed other fluoride products, including nitrogen trifluoride, pure sulfur hexafluoride and fluorine commodity and can lay claim to scaled-up production capacity.
lrici has long been dedicated to r&d, production and technical radiation of polyurethane raw materials, auxiliary agents, other products and composites. its products cover hard bubble, soft bubble, semi-rigid bubble, elastomer, water-borne polyurethane, polyurethane adhesive, polyurethane/polyurea and polydicyclopentadiene. throughout the years, lrici has been honored with almost a hundred technological achievements, over 20 awards at and above the provincial and ministerial levels, which have been translated into improved production. lrici can boast of a production unit of conjugate polyether with annual output of 6,000 tons, the production unit of modified isocyanate with annual output of 600 tons, the production line of auto polyurethane buffer stopper with annual output of 2 million pieces, the production line of rim products with annual output of 60,000 sets, the production line of mono-component sealants with annual output of 500,000 tons and the production line of cast elastomers with annual output of 20,000 pieces.
